STATE OF THE ART
FIBROSCAN TECHNOLOGY
FibroScan also known as transient elastography, is a procedure and test used to assess liver stiffness. The fibroScan uses Vibration Controlled Transient Elastography (VCTE) which sends a shear wave through the liver, the speed that the wave passes through the liver is measured and is correlated with how elastic the liver is. A liver that is damaged or fibrotic is less elastic and stiff, and a liver that is healthier is more elastic. This gives us a value which we can use along with other tests to then interpret and assess the health of your liver.
